Seimone Augustus Inducted Into Naismith Hall of Fame

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Seimone Augustus added to her long list of career accomplished as she became the first LSU Women’s Basketball alumnus to be elected to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame on Saturday.

She will join LSU Women’s Basketball coaches Sue Gunter, Van Chancellor and Kim Mulkey in the Hall of Fame. The LSU men have Shaquille O’Neal, Bob Petit and Pete Maravich in the Naismith Hall of Fame. Augustus was elected to the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in December. Her enshrinement into the Naismith Hall of Fame will take place on August 16-17 and the Women’s Basketball Hall is later this month on April 27.

She will enter the Naismith Hall of Fame in the Class of 2024 with Chauncey Billups (player), Vince Carter (player), Michael Cooper (player), Dick Barnett (player), Walter Davis (player), Michele Timms (player), Harley Redin (coach), Bo Ryan (coach), Charles Smith (coach), Doug Collins (coach, broadcaster), Jerry West (contributor) and Herb Simon (owner).

“When you think about all the qualities involved in being a Hall of Fame player, no one checks all the boxes like Seimone,” LSU Associate Head Coach Bob Starkey said who coached Augustus during her time at LSU. “But what brings me the most pride is that she was a hall of fame person and teammate as well — I know of no one more deserving.”
